Meditation
Guided meditation is a wonderful way of gaining insight, peace and harmony. There is evidence that meditation helps reduce stress, lowers blood pressure and prolongs an active life. It helps to get your life into a positive prospective allowing you to live joyfully and with inner peace. Meditating with others, in a calm, comfortable group is often easier than doing it alone. The energy of the group helps you to stay focused and people often say they have their most meaningful meditations whilst sitting in a circle. Join a spiritual circle if you can, but if not, try the following simple meditation. You could speak it into a tape recorder to play back whenever you wish, or have a friend read it slowly to you.
A Simple Meditation
Before starting:
Switch off your phones and choose at least 15 minutes when you won’t be disturbed. Have a glass of water ready for when you have finished meditating. Enjoy.
Sitting upright, in a comfortable chair, with your back supported, close your eyes and focus on your breathing, take three deep breaths. On each out-breath let go of all your negative thoughts, let them drift away. On each in-breath, breathe in the warmth of universal love, picture this as a colour, if you like. Breath your colour deep into your body, to all your organs, blood vessels and nerves, feel warm and relaxed. Feel your colour melting right through your body into your skin, and enveloping you both inside and outside your body. See your colour intensify as it swirls gently around you, relaxing you, loving you. This is pure universal love, caressing you. You gently drift into your colour as you move gently upwards, feeling light now, warm and confident. Stay in this space for as long as you wish, floating, being at peace and fully connected to the power of universal love.............. Gently, take a deep breath, feel your fingers and toes, allow a little tension to return to your body, take another deep breath, as you open your eyes and fully return to the here and now.
After your meditation drink a glass of water to refresh you and to fully ground yourself back to now.
